His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, chaired the ninth session of the UAE-Russia Joint Committee, which was held Sunday evening at the Ministry's General Office in Abu Dhabi in the presence of Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Mantorov, who headed the Russian side.

In his speech, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed Minister Dennis Mantorov and the accompanying delegation participating in the ninth session of the Joint Committee. He said: «The ninth session of the Joint Committee is an extension of the work of the previous committees and an extension of strategic partnership between the two countries announced during the visit His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in June 2018 ».

He added: «The Committee is of exceptional importance as it precedes a historic visit of President Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation on October 15, which reflects the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries in various political, economic, cultural, social and scientific».

His Highness said: "To maintain this relationship and prosperity for the future .. We work together to stabilize the region and work together to combat and confront extremist thought in all its forms and manifestations." He stressed that "the relations between us have grown steadily over the past years, especially at the level of Trade, tourism, military cooperation and space science

He added: “I have to thank and thank you for your role and the role of the Russian institutions, especially the Russian space institutions and our partnership in the field of space, which culminated in the first joint flight into space and the arrival of the first Emirati astronaut to the International Space Station last month. “We are delighted that those moments that will remain in the memory of Emiratis, especially young people, remain connected to Russia and our relationship with them.”

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said: “The UAE and the Russian Federation have contributed in the past years to maintaining the balance of oil markets and addressing the imbalances facing the fluctuations of supply and demand in global markets to achieve the desired balance and contribute to the growth rates and economic prosperity in the world”. .

He added: “My country looks forward to strengthening partnership with you in the oil and renewable energy sectors, which are the main source of sustainable energy for future generations.”

"In light of the efforts exerted to enhance economic relations between our two countries, bilateral trade has achieved remarkable levels during the past years. Russia today and the UAE are in an advanced trade and economic partnership in the region," he said.

"On the same level, I call on the two sides to set the target time frame to double the volume of bilateral trade between the UAE and the Russian Federation, so as to devote the approach of joint action within specific indicators to measure performance."
He added, "We also agreed today to accelerate the completion of the joint memorandum on cooperation between our customs institutions and the launching of a businessmen committee representing the chambers of commerce between the two countries."

For his part, Denis Mantorov stressed in his speech the distinguished strategic relations between the UAE and the Russian Federation, noting that the UAE is an important trading partner of Russia in the region.
The Russian minister said: "We appreciate the constructive trust, joint dialogue and the important frameworks in place between the leaders of the two countries, stressing the importance of the upcoming visit of the Russian president to the UAE.
