The president was asked if Russia feels a threat from NATO moving toward Russian borders.

“We feel, of course. We always felt it, always talked about it. And they answered us all the time: don’t be afraid, it’s not against you, and there’s nothing wrong with it, because NATO is transforming, it’s not a military organization at all, it is not aggressive, and so on, ”he said.

As Putin stressed, no one has changed the Charter of NATO.

“There is an article that says - I don’t remember, the fifth, or something, or which one I can be mistaken about military support for members of my organization and so on. This is a military unit. And of course, when the military bloc’s infrastructure approaches our borders, it doesn’t cause us any joy, ”the head of state added.

Earlier, speaking about the upcoming NATO exercises, Putin said that Russia does not welcome the alliance’s efforts to escalate the situation at its borders.

At the same time, he emphasized that Moscow will respond to the exercises calmly.
