World Rugby has described Scotland's critical positions on match cancellations and the threat to the Thist XV match against Japan as "disappointing" because of typhoon Hagibis.

"It is disappointing (to note) that the Scottish Federation makes such comments as we make every effort to ensure that the matches scheduled for Sunday can take place as planned while there is a real and significant threat to the safety of the public in because of what is considered the most important and destructive typhoon hitting Japan since 1958, "said World Rugby in a statement.

The Federation (SRU) and coaching the Scottish XV have explicitly put pressure on World Rugby for the match Japan-Scotland, decisive in the race for qualification for the quarter-finals, takes place Sunday (or Monday) in Yokohama, on the outskirts of Tokyo, the day after Hagibis's planned visit to the Japanese megalopolis.

The XV du Chardon does not want to hear about a possible cancellation of the match, synonymous with draw (0-0) and therefore elimination.

The Scottish Federation has left the threat of action in the courts in case the match is canceled.

"My point is that we will not let Scotland be the collateral victim of a hasty decision," Federation Chief Executive Mark Dodson told BBC Radio 4 on Friday. to add: "I think there are alternatives (in terms of stadium) in Japan".

"Like the other 19 teams, the Scottish Federation has signed the conditions for participation in the World Cup," says World Rugby, saying it "would be inappropriate to make further comments while we are fully focused on the safety of all as well as on the matches of the weekend ".
