"The United States is sending additional forces and equipment to Saudi Arabia to strengthen its defense capabilities and help renew the deterrence of Iranian aggression," he wrote on his Twitter.
Pompeo called on Iran to completely change its behavior and “act like a normal country.”
“Otherwise, he (the Iranian regime. - RT) will face the collapse of his economy,” the head of the US State Department warned.
The Pentagon previously announced the deployment of an additional 3,000 troops in Saudi Arabia.
In late September, the U.S. decision was announced to deploy a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system in Saudi Arabia and send about 200 troops to the country.
According to The Wall Street Journal, a similar move was caused by drone attacks on Saudi refineries on September 14.
