The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded Friday (October 11th) to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, the architect of a spectacular reconciliation between his country and neighboring Eritrea.

Abiy Ahmed is rewarded "for his efforts to achieve peace and for international cooperation, in particular for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with Eritrea," said Norwegian Nobel Committee Chair , Berit Reiss-Andersen.

The two countries renewed their relations in July 2018 after a bloody war between 1998 and 2000 and years of hostility.
