The UAE rescue team rescued 150 people on Saturday who were trapped in Wadi al-Bayh due to heavy rains in the mountainous areas of Ras al-Khaimah, which led to the flooding of the valley stream and blocked the road for the return of vehicles from Jebel Jis. Overnight in Wadi al-Bayh before the arrival of the volunteer rescue team, which began providing emergency aid and help the stranded to return to the city of Ras al-Khaimah within 10 hours.

Ali al-Shammari, the leader and founder of the UAE rescue team, told Al-Youm Al-Youm that Saturday morning at 6:20 am, the team received a communication from the Ras Al-Khaimah Police Operations Room stating that there was a family stuck in its vehicle in Wadi Al-Beih from the side leading to Mount Jess, and can not return because of the flow of valley Albih and blocked the road to the movement of vehicles.

Upon receiving the report, a team of rescuers was dispatched to Wadi al-Bayh. Upon arrival, 50 vehicles were found stuck in the valley with 150 people inside. Twenty members with vehicles dedicated to mountain, valleys and muddy areas were immediately summoned.

He added that all people stranded in Wadi al-Bayeh were contacted, and it was found that they were strolling to Jabal Jis and with the rains they tried to get off the mountain.However, heavy rains, Wadi al-Bayh runoff and banditry caused them to be trapped and stayed on the bank of the valley for one night.

He pointed out that he had been contacted with the Commander in Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police before the team arrived in Wadi Al Bayh, the Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, and the Director General of the Public Services Department in Ras Al Khaimah, in order to provide «Sheol» and the necessary equipment to open a temporary road to get the stranded. Ras Al Khaimah to evacuate vehicles towards the road leading to Wadi Albaih, in order to enable the team to quickly reach the place to begin the rescue of the stranded in the valley.

Al-Shammari added that the team members arrived at full speed from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Dubai and Ajman to Wadi Al-Bayh. A plan was made to divide the place into four segments and describe the stranded vehicles in a row in order to evacuate them at full speed.

He added that the bulldozers and equipment of the General Services Department began to fill the valley and built a temporary road, where the vehicles were assembled and the process of crossing gradually started, pointing out that whenever the valley water was cut and the temporary road was cut back, the public service bulldozers returned to work and re-fill the road to facilitate the passage of vehicles.

He explained that all those stranded were in good health, except for a pregnant woman who was tired and exhausted as a result of sitting in the vehicle for the whole night, pointing out that the team received certificates of thanks and appreciation from the Ras Al Khaimah Police and the Municipality Department for his participation in the rescue operations that took place in Wadi Al Beih.

Al Shammari thanked the competent authorities who cooperated with the team, provided all the equipment and put the necessary resources to facilitate the task of the team, namely, the Commander in Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, the Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality Department and the Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Public Services Department.
