Örjan Brodin is employed by the local police area Uppsala and Knivsta. He tells us that these are organized thieves who use a trailer or a truck to carry away several bicycles at a time, as well as a battery-powered angle grinder to cut the locks. However, the police are not the thieves on the tracks.

- We can't be in the right place at the right time all the time, but we need to be helped. We often have police in the Knivsta area, says Örjan Brodin.

The police are not making any special efforts right now to deal with the problems but hope that they can take the thieves on a wild offense.

- Then there is a possibility that we can put them in for gross theft, which can give prison, says Örjan Brodin.

"The next one will surely also be stolen"

Thea Brewitz got rid of two of her bikes that were parked with locks in Knivsta. One she had left at the train station, which was worst hit, and when she got there the next day it was stolen.

- I have to buy a new one, but the new one will probably also be stolen, says Thea Brewitz.

Enköping has also had many bicycle thefts. The purchasing authority is well aware that three people account for a large part of the bicycle thefts in the city. In connection with a house search in one of the suspect's homes, they found a large number of stolen bicycles, but also bicycle parts.

In the clip above you can hear Thea Brewitz and Örjan Bodin talk about the bike thefts.
