A parliamentarian who lived the PMA, a "single woman" wondering about children without a father, or an elected to the tears about the pre-implantation diagnosis: several deputies were unknowingly unveiled during debates on the bioethics bill.

The first reading in the House of this rich text ended Wednesday evening after two and a half weeks of passionate exchanges, beyond the traditional divisions. His solemn vote will take place on Tuesday.

Opening of medically assisted procreation (PMA) to lesbian couples and single women, but also self-preservation of oocytes and genetic tests: "when we are on bioethics, we go on the intimate", hence unusual expressions in the hemicycle, says a participant.

"I had a father, but I was brought up by my mother and my grandmother, that did not make me a delinquent," said Jacques Marilossian (LREM) on the right, with the wind up against him. 'absence of father' in this enlargement of the PMA.

This Hauts-de-Seine elected official also confided to having used his wife at the PMA: "We do not create children with a magic wand! Success is not guaranteed!" he pointed out to those who criticized "babies on order".

Later, Emilie Bonnivard (LR), a "single woman" of 39 years, expressed her doubts: "Is it my role, as legislator? Whatever, at the personal level, my desire or my situation to create an order that deprives, a priori, a child of a father? "

Another highlight with Marc Le Fur, Vice-President LR of the Assembly: to support the rejection of the post-mortem PMA, he recounted his mourning of a woman he "loved (t)". And to plead: "Life must prevail (...) A child exists by itself, it is not intended to be the substitute for a being who has left us".

- "In tune with the real" -

The bill provides for children born in the LDC to have access to their origins when they reach the age of majority, a measure that has given rise to reluctance on virtually all schools. Born in Korea and adopted by a French family, Joachim Son-Forget (UDI-Agir) insisted on the weight of "ignorance of our lineage, especially at certain moments of life".

Other chapters of the bill have given rise to poignant moments. To counter a LR amendment to restore a period of reflection of a week before a medical termination of pregnancy, Michele Peyron (LREM) said to have suffered such a IMG, "decided after five months of pregnancy."

Ultrasound, analysis, induced childbirth: "I can assure you that we have time to prepare for this act," she confessed.

The highlight of these personal cases, Vincent Thiébaut (LREM), throat knotted, questioned the "relevance" of pre-implantation diagnosis. And for good reason: he is "father of twins, deaf deep because of a genetic disease", "born by IVF" (in vitro fertilization), and who "opened his eyes, through their handicap, on things that (he) could never have imagined ".

"Do not open Pandora's box in the name of a desire for harmonization or standardization," said the elected representative of Bas-Rhin.

"These testimonials, on extremely technical points, help us to walk" and to be in touch with "the real", underlines Nathalie Elimas (MoDem).

They were "spontaneous" and "every time useful to the debate," said co-rapporteur Jean-François Eliaou (LREM), who went like others to greet those speakers who spoke "in front of the Nation".

For her part, while paying attention to these "accents of truth, sincerity", Constance Le Grip (LR) notes that her group generally avoids "highlighting such or such specific life course" in order to legislate in the name of of the general interest.

In 2013 during the debates on marriage for all, evocations of private life had sometimes aroused discomfort, even accusations of instrumentalisation. Six years later, in the opinion of all political groups, respect has dominated trade.
