- You feel bad and it affects the rest of the family as well. That's the case with all my colleagues as well, says Nils Anders Jonsson, who is a predator in Tåssåsens Sameby.

While predator pressure has been well above the Riksdag's 10 per cent tolerance level for a long time, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency decided earlier this year that there should be a wolf rejuvenation in Jämtland County. A decision involving 10 adult wolves in the area.

The Sami village wants to change the decision

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's decision was discussed during the day and the Sami village calls for legislative changes.

- We have high predator pressure as it is. We have a lot of wolves, lynx, bear and king eagle, and also to house wolves makes all reindeer husbandry work impossible, says Jonsson.

S member: "Reacted strongly"

Kalle Olsson from the Social Democrats who together with Saila Quicklund from the moderates were organizers for the seminar says:

- I find it very difficult to see how a wolf rejuvenation in Jämtland County can be combined with a sustainable reindeer husbandry, so this is something that me and my party mates have strongly relied on and we for a dialogue with authorities and colleagues in the Riksdag and the government.

Satisfied after the meeting

Five parties were represented, as was the Sami Parliament and the county administrative board in Jämtland. Moderate's representative Saila Quicklund is pleased with the participation, but at the same time promises more seminars focusing on the predator pressure for increased knowledge for parliamentary politicians.

- There were quite a few who came, but we continue to have a dialogue and we intend to invite again so that as many as possible can take part in this very good drawing on the predator problem, says Moderate's Saila Quicklund.
