The Paris Bourse rose 0.47% Thursday, led by the flight of the luxury giant LVMH, at the beginning of a day that will be mainly marked by the resumption of trade talks between China and the United States.

At 09:15, the CAC 40 index took 25.89 points at 5,525.03 points. The day before, he had already gained 0.78% thanks to the hope of progress between Beijing and Washington.

"The highly discussed trade talks between the US and China will begin today," said David Madden, an analyst at CMC Markets, who said the latest signals from China are positive, even though "expectations are not very high. "

Quoting a Chinese official close to the negotiations, the Bloomberg news agency reported Wednesday that Beijing did not really expect to reach a big deal, but that the Chinese would accept a limited deal if US President Donald Trump waived the additional tariffs that he threatened to implement by the end of the year.

In exchange, Beijing could make some concessions like the large-scale resumption of orders for agricultural products.

In France, industrial production fell again in August, largely wiping out the jolt in July, while Germany suffered a sharp drop in exports in the same month, reducing its trade surplus.

Leading the CAC 40, the world leader in luxury, LVMH flew 4.55% to 373.25 euros, thanks to sales growth still good in the third quarter, 17% in published data and 11% organic, to 13.3 billion euros, "despite a difficult environment in Hong Kong".

In its wake, other luxury groups benefited from the good news for the sector, such as Kering (+ 2.86% to 456.65 euros), or Hermes (+ 1.48% to 632.80 euros).

The OL Groupe football club rose 1.29% to 3.15 euros, despite its disappointing 14th place in the championship of France after 9 days, the past year having proven very profitable, with respective leaps of 7% for turnover and 4% for gross operating surplus (Ebitda), both at unmatched levels.
