“Manufacturers of craft beer need to ... unite in a community that can formulate clear requirements for themselves,” TASS quoted Abramova as saying.

He emphasized that a committee could subsequently be created where “voluntary technical requirements based on a consortium” would be developed.

Earlier, Rosstandart told RT that production of craft beer could cease in Russia in connection with the entry into force of the new regulation of the Eurasian Economic Union on the safety of alcoholic beverages in 2021.

The department noted that, according to current GOSTs, Russia provides for the production of wheat, light and dark beer, but the introduction of a single standard for the production of craft beer is not planned.

Brewer Pavel Olshansky, commenting on the statement of Rosstandart about the possible disappearance of craft beer in Russia, said that the law does not regulate craft brewing, as there is no corresponding concept in legislative acts.
