Al-Jazeera correspondent said that the Turkish army and the armed Syrian opposition, as part of the operation "spring of peace" since Wednesday in northern Syria - to the outskirts of the city of Tal Abyad and they are preparing to storm it.

The ongoing military operation left 109 Kurdish militants dead, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech today, while three Turks were killed and 13 others wounded when a mortar shell fired from the Syrian side hit the center of the Turkish border town of Agca.

Al-Jazeera correspondent confirmed that Turkish and Syrian opposition forces took control of several villages in the vicinity of the city of Tal Abyad, and that they reached a depth of eight kilometers inside Syria.

Sources of the island also said that Turkish forces established a military base between the cities of "Seluk" and Tal Abyad on the Syrian-Turkish border, and they cut off the road between the two cities.

In Raqqa countryside, the reporter confirmed that Turkish fighter jets targeted the 93rd brigade of the Syrian Democratic Forces in Ain Issa.

In the border province of al-Hasakah, the Turkish Ministry of Defense says that the Turkish army and opposition forces advanced in the city of Ras al-Ain in the province's countryside, where Turkish forces seek to control Tal Abyad and Ras al-Ain, in preparation for control of other areas up to a depth of up to 30 km

The military operation in northern Syria has driven more than 60,000 civilians from their homes, and the towns of Ras al-Ain and Darbasiyah are almost empty, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

It is noteworthy that calm prevailed this morning in the city of Tal Abyad in the province of Raqqa, after the bombing of Turkish artillery and tanks sites of what Ankara calls terrorists in the city and its environs, with the launching of the "spring of peace."

Turkish shelling of several locations in Tall Abyad continued until midnight yesterday, before decreasing in frequency in the following hours.

Anatolia correspondent said that Turkish army units crossed the border from several axes towards Tall Abyad throughout the night.

It is noteworthy that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the launch of his country's army in cooperation with the Syrian National Army, Operation "spring of peace" in the area east of the Euphrates River in northern Syria.

The military operation seeks to eliminate what Turkey calls the "terrorist corridor" which efforts are being made to establish on its southern border, and to bring peace and stability to the region.

Turkey briefed the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, NATO and the United Nations Secretary General on Wednesday, while several other Arab European countries rejected the process.
