10 October 2019The Polish writer Olga Tokarczuk was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature 2018 (last year the prize was not awarded due to a scandal involving the jury). The winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature 2019 is the Austrian writer and screenwriter Peter Handke.

Olga Tokarczuk is considered the most talented novelist of her generation in Poland.

The 2019 Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded to Peter Handke "for an influential work that has explored the periphery and the specificity of human experience with linguistic ingenuity".
