The queen of the salchipapa is now also a writer, author of Lety la Horrible and the diabolic boarding school (Hydroplane Editions), a novel with autobiographical dyes that she wrote eleven years ago and now goes on sale, next October 15. "I am very excited because it is very good. In the publishing house they did not expect me to write something so good, they stayed with their mouths open," Leticia says in a telephone conversation with LOC.
Leti is looking forward to having her Lety the Horrible arrive at the bookstores because she thinks it will be a bombshell . Although the theme and the cover of the publication (similar to Harry Potter , with a girl with apparatus and blue hair as the protagonist) suggest that it is a work aimed at teenagers, she does not want to be labeled. "Anyone can read it. I wrote it in 2008, the year Bobby, my boyfriend disappeared. It was very hard. I presented it to several publishers but they told me it was too risky, I don't know if because of the issues it deals with or at the moment what was happening in Spain, "he adds.
And what are those risky issues? "They are very strong. For example, there is cannibalism . It is a fiction book where bulliyng is played, and family relationships. It has a very powerful message and that even if you get out of nowhere you can become the greatest," he says. with enthusiasm.
What is that of cannibalism? Ahhh, it's a great chapter, but you have to read the book, it's a little gem and I wish everyone had it on their bedside table. It is a book where everything happens and nothing is what it seems. It has a lot of rhythm, adventure, fiction, love ... and a lot of message. The protagonist, Lety, is 15 years old and is very ugly but with a wonderful soul. Calling the protagonist Lety, isn't it a bit obvious? Didn't you say that it is not autobiographical? Lety let him because the publisher asked me to, although the story is so good that it didn't need to be called that. No, it is not autobiographical but I also suffered bullying at school and I want people who can be considered ugly not traumatic. Did it happen badly at school? Yes, until I was 12 I had a very bad time, but the bullying It has made me very strong. I was born almost dead, with a very strong pylorus dehydration, and it was very ugly, it had all kinds of defects and problems: crooked legs, strabismus, an eye patch, chicken pox marks ... it was terrible. All that with two sisters who are beautiful and very intelligent, a doctor and the other architect. I had no choice but to overcome myself. After 12 I started to change physically and the ugly and weird began to correct. From ugly duckling I went to a swan, I began to have a lot of success with the boys and after 14 my life was cheerful and happy. And with two studious sisters did they accept at home that the other girl became an artist? No, my family is traditional and serious. I had many problems to become an artist because they didn't understand it, but they had to swallow. I had nothing to lose because there was nothing I liked and they had to assume it. I have taught you that in life you have to have a sense of humor and that nothing happens for being a geek. Now they are very surprised. My father, who is a mining engineer and is 70 years old, has loved the book, is very proud, just like the rest of my family. What books and authors have inspired you when writing? I don't have a writer that drives me crazy, I'm more from books than from authors. The last thing I read is the story of a girl named Beverly, who works in a cafeteria and everyone laughs at her, including her boyfriend, but in the end she manages to have a holding company . I also read self-help books and biographies of important people like Berlusconi, Pedro J, Onassis, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Maria Callas ... If Lety is a success ... What will become of us without salchipapas and polvorrones ? There will be salchipapas in a hundred years (laughs). I will always do my tour every year and at Christmas I will get another Christmas carol because the 'Polvorrón' worked in luxury and my fans are waiting for it. I will never stop acting because I live from it. I give about 200 performances and concerts a year, I started in 2012 and I'm doing very well. I don't have the voice of Beyoncé but I dance very well and I make a show that people love and cram the premises. Look, I could retire, I have money, but I work because I have a great time. Do you already have a full piggy bank? I have no addictions or caprices too expensive and as a good Catalan I have always lived well and spent, but with measure. I have invested the money well and I live in a chalet that is worth a million euros. Look, I have everything in mind: I sell the chalet and with that money I buy apartments to rent near the universities. That is my retirement plan. How are your famous abs going? I love my abs, they ask me to teach them. I am happy. I like to go provocative and it was a part of my anatomy that I didn't like. With the body I have finished, I already have it perfect. I do not know if a legend, but I will give you a scoop: I am in meetings with the producers of the documentary about Parchís who want to do another one about my life and my 25 years of profession. In those 25 years there will have been everything, even some indecent proposition. I have done nothing in my life that I did not want to do. I have never experienced unpleasant situations.
