The protesters demanded that international support and exports of military technology to Turkey be stopped immediately.

17 different organizations joined the show in Malmö and representatives from the organizations took turns giving speeches, accompanied by numerous audience members with flags and placards.

The manifestation had a well-guarded police guard, but the atmosphere in the place was calm according to SVT's reporter on site.

Reaction to Turkey's offensive

The reason is that Turkey has launched a military offensive against the Kurdish militia in northeastern Syria. Turkey states that the main motive is to fight the terrorist movement IS.

The Turkish offensive takes place in conjunction with the Turkish-supported rebel alliance Free Syrian Army, writes Fahrettin Altun, head of communications at the presidential office in an article in The Washington Post.

The Kurds fear that the aim is to ethnically cleanse the Kurd-dominated areas in the northeast. On Monday, President Donald Trump announced that the United States is withdrawing its troops from the area.

Norwegian and Finnish truce

Both Norway and Finland have chosen to stop their arms exports to Turkey since the offensive started. According to Sweden's Radio, five out of eight Swedish parliamentary parties demand that Sweden also stop its exports.
