INTERVIEW

It's a scathing setback for Emmanuel Macron. The candidature of Sylvie Goulard to the European Commission, supported by the President of the Republic, was rejected by a large majority by the European Parliament. MEP Geoffroy Didier justified the vote on Thursday night on Europe 1. "The choice of Sylvie Goulard was a bad choice," said the Deputy Secretary General of the Republicans. "There is a presumption of innocence that is sacred, but Emmanuel Macron took a risk in presenting a profile considered questionable by many political parties," Geoffroy Didier continued.

Sylvie Goulard, former Minister of Defense Emmanuel Macron, is the subject of two investigations, one by the French justice and one by the anti-fraud office of the EU (Olaf) on its participation in a system of fictitious jobs alleged for his former centrist party, the MoDem.
