US senators Chris Van Hollen and Lindsay Groom have drafted a bill on sanctions against the Turkish leadership, as well as the energy and military sectors of Ankara in connection with the operation launched by Ankara in northeastern Syria.

The relevant bill they published on Twitter.

According to Hollen, these measures were prepared in response to the Turkish military operation in Syria and should "lead to immediate and large-scale consequences for Erdogan (Turkish leader Recep Tayyip. - RT ) and his army."

The document, in particular, provides for sanctions against US assets of Erdogan, the country's vice president, as well as the heads of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Energy.

In relation to the Turkish leadership, it is also proposed to introduce visa restrictions.

In addition, senators propose introducing sanctions against foreign citizens who supply goods, services, technologies, information and other assistance to “support the domestic Turkish production of fuel and natural gas for their use by the armed forces”.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump warned that the consequences for Turkey due to the operation in Syria could be much more severe than just sanctions.
