The Reuters news agency quoted two Turkish officials as saying on Tuesday that the Turkish army carried out air strikes on the Syrian-Iraqi border last night, to prevent Kurdish forces from using the road between the two countries and to cut off the supply lines before the planned Turkish operation.

Syrian opposition forces are preparing
As part of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Turkish military operation, the Syrian National Army of the Syrian opposition called on the SDF fighters to defect, lay down their arms and stay in their homes before the planned military operation in which the Syrian National Army is scheduled to participate.

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Fayssal Mekdad, in the regime's first official position on the expected operation, said Damascus would defend all Syrian territory if Turkey launched any military operation in northern Syria.

Al-Miqdad said in a statement to Al-Watan newspaper close to the regime that what he described as Kurdish militias had lost everything and that they should not lose themselves.

Al-Watan newspaper quoted regime forces as saying that their deployment in the areas under their control in the countryside of Manbij (northern Syria) is still the same, and that they did not move from their positions and received no new instructions.
