It was not only the majority of Stockholm City Hall that presented their budget on Wednesday. At 13 o'clock in the afternoon, the majority of the Stockholm region also presented its budget for 2020.

"The largest increase in funding will be given to health care and public transport because we are to safeguard the needs of our county residents for health care and a capacity-intensive public transport," says Irene Svenonius (M), regional board chair.

Defends the raise of the SL cards

A question that engages many Stockholmers is about the prices of the SL cards. The majority's budget means that the SL tariff is increased by SEK 40 for the monthly cards.

- For 2020, we will raise the tariff by SEK 40. We do this to ensure a continued strong supply of public transport, says Irene Svenonius (M) and continues:

- We are increasing the bets and raising the tariff. A growing county needs a well-functioning public transport.

"Influenced budget work tremendously"

Irene Svenonius (M) also chooses to criticize the equalization system, which she believes has significantly affected this year's regional budget.

- The equalization system is a drop shot against the county residents. We pay a billion this year. In 2023, we will pay SEK 4.2 billion to the rest of Sweden. This, together with the recession, has had a huge impact on budget work.
