Behind the positive economic forecast are, among other things, several measures within the various operations and increased city grants.

- The city grants came as expected, but then this is also about the fact that we have planned investments we will not be able to make this year that will improve the decision. But the whole of the region looks okay with this, even though we still have challenges with our administrations that do not go plus, says Mikaela Waltersson (M), chair of the regional board.

Still current with increased tax

Starting in 2020, the governing alliance in Region Halland wants to raise taxes, by 58 cents. Hall payments with SEK 30,000 in monthly salary therefore receive a tax increase of SEK 2,088 per year.

The tax increase will provide a contribution of approximately SEK 440 million. Money needed for the region not to spend half a billion in deficit next year.

Despite the forecast that now shows a quarter of a billion surplus better than expected, the tax increase is still current.

- We see that the forecast for tax revenue will be lower in Halland and we are on the way to a low economic outlook. For a region and a municipality, it is not enough to go plus minus zero at the end of the day, but we need a couple of hundred million that we have for our investment costs going forward, says Mikaela Waltersson (M).
