San Francisco (AP) - Twitter has admitted a problematic handling of user data. The service used phone numbers and e-mail addresses provided by users for security purposes to deliver personalized advertising. It had been a mistake that was resolved in mid-September, said Twitter. Facebook had adopted a similar approach a few months ago - and the incident was also mentioned in connection with the US data protection lawsuit against the online network.
