• Terrorism: The first jihadist in Spain arrested with a list of 'objective' people and substances to manufacture the 'mother of Satan'
  • Terrorism: Islamist platforms multiply their threat messages in Spanish
  • Terrorism: A group linked to the IS threatens to assassinate a judge of the National Court

Abdelaziz AA , the alleged 23-year-old jihadist arrested last week in Parla ( Madrid) , had among his terrorist objectives Justice Minister Dolores Delgado, and an important Bankia manager.

Moreover, it also aimed as a priority at several Madrid Metro stations - Concha Espina (Santiago Bernabéu stadium), Alonso Martínez (National Audience) and Nuevos Ministerios - and had recorded numerous videos with several routes of the Renfe Cercanías network in the capital of Spain. This is stated in the documentation seized by the agents detained at home, according to legal sources.

This is the first person linked to jihadist terrorism detained in Spain with a list of possible victims, according to experts in the fight against terrorism consulted by EL MUNDO, who said they had no record of any similar detention.

The detainee was seized a notebook where several addresses located in central streets of Madrid were underlined, which now the National Police is trying to find out who they belong to.

The name of the acting Minister of Justice appears prominently in the annotations of one of the two notebooks of the detainee seized by the agents of the General Information Commission . However, there is no data to reveal that he had followed up the one responsible for the terrorist affairs in the Prosecutor's Office of the National Court, and no further information about him appears. The one who did have data was from a Bankia manager, who had information about his vehicle and even his license plate.

"In a position to commit an attack"

After testifying before the investigating judge of the Santiago Pedraz Hearing, the arrested Abdelaziz AA, a Spaniard born in Tetouan ( Morocco ), entered prison for an alleged crime of integration into a terrorist organization and terrorist threats. At first, his father was also arrested, although he was subsequently released without any accusation.

According to the judge's order, the detainee would be in a position to "commit an attack on behalf of the Daesh terrorist group", as material was also requisitioned for the manufacture of improvised explosive devices. In addition, he was seized a video swearing allegiance to Abu Baker Al Baghdadi , leader of the jihadist group Islamic State that in 2014 proclaimed himself a caliph of Muslims, demanding obedience to Muslims around the world.

The detainee also recorded a generic claim video of the commission of an attack, a video with a list of targets in Spain that he sends to another person, as well as the attempt to buy weapons through the mobile phone. In addition, with the help of an intermediary, he shared with other users through the Telegram messaging application the radical content of the threatening videos, prompting the commission of the attacks, according to the judicial order of entry into prison.

The investigators consider the detainee to be the person responsible for the media platform Muntasir Media who disseminated a video threatening the judge of the National Court, José de la Mata , as well as the author of all the videos with threats in Spanish spilled on this internet channel between late 2018 and 2019.

However, experts believe that it is practically impossible that he is only behind the platform, because, among other things, he should have enabled the patent and have a certain social base of follow-up, two elements for which he does not seem to be trained.

He stated that he made the videos because of "discontent"

In his statement before the judge, the detainee acknowledged the elaboration of the videos, although he pointed out that there was no "real terrorist" intention. He added that he made the videos because of the "discontent and anger" about the situation in Spain and the world about the Islamic community.

He also decoupled in his statement from the Muntasir Media message dissemination platform, ensuring that another third person was the one who made the videos. However, in the review of the recordings on the trains of Cercanías de Madrid it has been found that his face is reflected in the crystals during the filming he makes inside the convoys and that these are images taken in 2019.

The day after his arrest, a message signed by Muntasir Media appeared - captured by the expert Carlos Seisdedos , of the Internet Security Auiditors - that indicated that the jihadist arrested did not operate individually and that the threat persists. The message says: "Muntasir Media. They think they caught us. They lie ... He has been falsely accused. You will never capture us."

Muntasir Media is a propaganda platform, with international ramifications, that uses very secure messaging applications that allow dissemination of content without risk to the user. They have proliferated with the fall of Isis and spread the messages of the Islamic State to their own radical slogans. In the first half of 2019 alone, 1,622 channels used by these platforms have been counted.

The agents of the operation also intervened at the detainee's home several manuscripts and detailed schemes on the steps to follow to manufacture explosive devices and a homemade bomb. In fact, "key" chemical substances, as defined by the Police, were seized in the making of the so-called mother of Satan (TATP). That is, one of the explosives most used by jihadists and, precisely, the one that the terrorists who attacked in Barcelona and Cambrils (Tarragona) planned to use in August 2017.

Among the chemical precursors found was ammonium nitrate, hydrogen peroxide and methyl ethyl ketone. Together with these substances, the agents also found electronic material such as manipulated mobile phones, modified watches that could be used as timers, as well as a bulletproof vest cover and a plate with pellets attached as shrapnel.
