The issue was discussed extensively already in 2010. Hamre riding school has worn premises and is in a place that the municipality wants to use for housing. The proposal involves demolishing the riding school and building a new equestrian facility at Badelundaåsen, east of Västerås.

The County Administrative Board opposes the plans. The ridge is a very important historical site and an important cultural heritage. A legacy that would be threatened by the possible exploitation of the area and the horses' tramping hoofs, according to the county administrative board.

Government positive

But the government believes that the plant has been adapted to the valuable environment and gives green light.

Lars Kallsärby is in favor of the government's message.

The city of Västerås is positive to the government's decision.

"It is a fantastic target for us," says Lars Kallsäby (C), chairman of the building committee.

However, the decision has also been appealed to the Land and Environmental Court by, among other things, nearby residents who are also critical of the construction. It is now up to the Land and Environmental Court to decide the matter.

- We do not know exactly how long their trial will take, but it usually does not take longer than six months, says Lars Kallsäby.

In the clip, he tells, among other things, if he thinks there will be future developments around the ridge.
