MRSA is a type of staphylococci that is resistant to certain antibiotics. It can cause severe infections if you have ulcers on your body.

- The first two cases were discovered when sampling patients with mild infections, writes infection control physician Micael Widerström in a press release

The bacterium was discovered in a home service area in central Östersund and both the Jämtland Region Härjedalen and the municipality of Östersund are now carrying out infection detection to find those who may have been infected.

- The risk of spreading infection is small, if you do not have a wound or eczema and if you follow the hygiene routines, writes Micael Widerström.
