“Italy is concerned about reports of impending Turkish military operations in northeast Syria. It is important to avoid unilateral actions that can cause destabilizing consequences, ”the message says.
The ministry noted that the political process within the UN is the only long-term solution to the Syrian crisis.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held telephone conversations with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, during which the ministers paid special attention to the situation in northeast Syria.
On October 8, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the completion of preparations for the operation.
