The obituary was published both in the county newspaper Södertälje and in the Ölandsbladet. It went on to read that:

“Today, March 13, I, Stig Pörkenäs, have left you all. This means nothing more dramatic than the condition that came back before I was born. My memory lives on through Ebon, Johan & Jens with families. On Saturday, August 3 at 3pm, my friends are welcomed to the Hamnpuben in Byxelkrok where I offer a last glass./Stickan ”

- Dad was sick and had been sick for ten years when he passed away. Quite early on, we talked about how both he and mom wanted it when they passed away and then dad was clear that it wasn't going to be "any fucking funeral" like the atheist he was, says son Jens Pörkenäs.

Many came to the party

However, Stig could imagine inviting family and friends to a big party after his death. When Stig passed away in March this year, Jens and his mother began planning for what the farewell would look like. As Stig's wish was clear, they booked a restaurant in Byxelkrok and offered drinks and snacks. About 80 people showed up and drank one last glass.

- The wording in the obituary and the party at the restaurant both felt very obvious. Just as obviously, it felt like we were spreading his ashes in the sea off Neptuni fields.

"Did good on dad"

Jens says that the reactions to the obituary and the different memorial time have been positive.

- Everyone who read the ad thought it was right on dad. It could just as well have been he himself who wrote it. People were more open to the arrangement than I thought they would be. We have received a lot of love.

What do you think your dad had said about the obituary and the party afterwards?

- He had been super happy with the arrangement and the party. On the other hand, he must have been a little more hesitant about the resurrection that has become around this in retrospect.
