It was when Alf Gund in Forsen outside Åsarna read an article in one of the evening papers about electricity prices that he reacted.

- It was said in black and white that my electricity company, Bergs Tingslags Elektriska, was the most expensive in the whole country.

Alf then began to study his own invoices a little more thoroughly, and discovered that the fixed costs had skyrocketed considerably.

Money for renovations

At Alf's electricity company, Bergs Tingslags Elektriska AB, which is abbreviated as BTEA, a large part of the cost increase is explained by extensive renovations.

- We have had a major maintenance need for the last 10 years and needed the money, says BTEA CEO Jörgen Mattsson.

And how they ended up highest in the evening newspaper's investigation, Jörgen Mattsson is difficult to cope with.

- We have a hard time knowing from the article what parameters they used in their survey. There is a lot of difference between comparing apartments or, for example, villas and industrial costs. We think we are good at price.

Consumption peaks give a high fee

As of this year, BTEA has introduced so-called power tariffs. This means that each property pays online fees after the highest peak in electricity consumption for a whole year. This means that, for example, mountain cabins that are inhabited for a short time of the year, but then discard with a lot of electricity, must participate in and pay a larger part of the fixed costs in the electricity grid.
