  • Interview. Pablo Casado: "If we win, I will unlock the Government, even with the PSOE"

Pablo Casado has defended today his changes in the electoral lists to incorporate veteran profiles and economic managers. In particular, those of three former ministers: Ana Pastor ( number two for Madrid), Isabel García Tejerina (number four ) and Elvira Rodríguez (who ranks fifth). "You have to have zidanes and pavones, " summed up the president of the PP, referring to Real Madrid at the beginning of the century, which combined winners of the Golden Ball and youth players who were supposed to be projected.

Does the appointment of the Marianist Pastor - very similar to Rajoy - as an electoral ticket is a continuity with the PP to which Casado won the internal congress of 2018? "The three former ministers are a good example of collaboration with Aznar and Rajoy. They are three women who have managed to manage in difficult times and were already on my team," Casado replied Monday at EsRadio.

"And politicians like Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo have returned, Pablo Montesinos has entered politics and there are members of my generation such as José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Isabel Díaz Ayuso or Teodoro García Egea." This is like football: you have to have youth players and experience, you have to have zidanes and pavones, "he summarized.

In fact, Casado has asked Almeida to close the PP list to Congress for Madrid , because it is compatible. "We needed to combine that experience with a young generation. Suárez, Sánchez, Aznar and Felipe led their games with less than 40 years," he defended.

In his interview with this newspaper, published this Sunday, Casado extended his hand to look for "governance formulas" with the PSOE, if the PP achieves a seat more than the Socialists. But today he wanted to focus first on achieving the comeback. "I already said it yesterday in Galicia , and with a Galician expression: let's stop with big coalitions and technical abstentions and we're going to win."

The repetition of this phrase is very relevant at the moment it is done. Today, the president of the Xunta de Galicia , Alberto Núñez Feijóo, said in La Razón that "the candidate who wins" is the one who must propose a "great coalition", implying that he would like it to happen, although he thinks "hard".

It is, therefore, an indirect response to Feijóo, since Casado does not want a large coalition, but the above-mentioned "formulas" to put an end to "bloquismo".
