Agrigento's deputy prosecutor Salvatore Vella arrived at the 'Favaloro' pier in Lampedusa, where another tragedy of the sea took place at night: a small boat carrying around fifty migrants tipped over a mile from the coast, while the Coast Guard and Coast Guard patrol boats were about to proceed with their transfer. The migrants all moved to one side and, thanks to the rough sea, they turned the boat upside down.

At the moment, 13 bodies have been recovered. The first wooden coffins were placed on the pier, one next to the other. A harrowing scene, reminiscent of the dramatic anniversary of October 3, 2013, when 368 people died off Lampedusa. In 20 they remained missing.

Vella has arrived on the island to directly follow the recovery operations of the bodies in close contact with the police. The prosecutor's office of the Republic of Agrigento, led by Luigi Patronaggio, opened a file against unknown persons for shipwreck and manslaughter. The search for missing persons continues.
