Emma Frans is a woman with many strings on her lyre. In addition to being a doctor of medical epidemiology at the Karolinska Institute, she is also a writer, educator, lecturer and science writer. Now she can also add "Alum of the Year" to her resume.

- It is fun to be noticed by their old university but also fun that they show how important it is with popular education, says Emma.

Each year, Uppsala University awards the Alumni of the Year award to a former student who has made "outstanding contributions in his career or performed something else worth noting".

Took the Master's degree in Uppsala

Emma Frans studied biomedicine at the university, where she also received her medical master's degree in 2006. She later completed her doctorate in medical epidemiology at the Karolinska Institute in 2013.

- It is fun that they not only pay attention to teaching and research but also educators, which is especially important at a time when we are sharing a lot of disinformation. The role of popular education is very important, she says.

Emma Frans will give an Alumni Lecture at Uppsala University on March 3 at the Humanist Theater in Uppsala.

- It's fun to feel appreciated at home, she says.
