Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed held talks in Abu Dhabi with Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman on defense, military and regional security. The talks come in the wake of Riyadh's positive attitude towards a truce offer in Yemen.

The two sides discussed the challenges facing the Gulf region and their repercussions on the security and stability of their peoples and countries and the efforts exerted towards them.

According to the same source, the two officials discussed "strategic cooperation, coordination and joint action in defense and military affairs."

They also discussed "the challenges facing the Arabian Gulf region and its repercussions on the security, stability and efforts of its peoples and countries."

Since 2015, the Kingdom has led a military alliance in Yemen with the participation of the UAE, in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government against those who control the capital Sana'a and large areas.

On September 21, the Houthis announced that they were ready to reach a peaceful solution with Riyadh, stressing the suspension of attacking the kingdom with missiles and drones, which was met with a positive response from Saudi Arabia.

Prince Khaled said in comments published on his Twitter account last Friday that "the truce announced from Yemen is viewed positively by the Kingdom, because this is what it always seeks, and hopes to be implemented in practice."

It is noteworthy that the conflict in Yemen has killed tens of thousands - mostly civilians - according to humanitarian organizations, facing the country what the United Nations describes as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.
