Seven months after the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX, one of his former employees is pointing fingers at the company.

His former chief engineer filed a lawsuit against Ethiopian Airlines last month before the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the US air regulatory authority. Yonas Yeshanew compiled official documents and e-mails describing shortcomings of all kinds: overworked mechanics, under-qualified employees or exhausted drivers.

The engineer asked management to end a dangerous practice of letting aircraft fly after incomplete, incorrect, or uncompleted repairs and maintenance.

Secret detention center

Ethiopian Airlines' 737 Max crash , which killed 157 people in March south of Addis Ababa, grounded 400 aircraft and put designer Boeing in the hot seat . But Yonas Yeshanew says that the day after the tragedy, the management of Ethiopian Airlines ordered the falsification of reports so that the company is not questioned.

He even claims that the company has a secret detention center where it interrogates, intimidates and mistreats rebel employees. The former engineer himself was mistreated in July. Four days later, he fled to the United States to seek asylum.

The Associated Press interviewed several former employees who at least partially confirmed this list of charges. But the airline denies en bloc and denounces the revenge of a dissatisfied employee. She added that Yonas Yeshanew was fired because of management weaknesses, disciplinary problems and lack of integrity.
