The tuna is back in the Sound. After a few years of sporadic reports, they now dive closely with pictures and stories about bluefin tuna in the Sound.

- I think it's incredibly cool. Imagine that here in Northern Europe we can have such fantastic fish swimming so close to us in this metropolitan area. It's incredibly cool, says Michael Palmgren at the Marine Knowledge Center in Malmö.

The tuna disappeared from the Sound

In the 40s, 50s and 60s, Öresund was a paradise for tuna sport fishing. But a few decades later, it was gone because of emissions, eutrophication and depletion. Michael Palmgren.

- At the end of the 1980s, Öresund was about to crash altogether. It was poisonous discharge. The seals died in the tens of thousands. In the early 90s, something happens. The treatment plants got better and got better treatment. Copenhagen actually got its first treatment plant in 1996 and since the 1990s, Öresund has gradually improved.
