The Pope celebrated Sunday, October 6, a major mass dedicated to the special synod on the Amazon, which will be held in Rome for three weeks and will bring together more than 110 bishops and experts from around the world. This synod is on the theme of " New Paths of Evangelization for the Church and Integral Ecology ".

Pope Francis gave this Sunday morning the tone of this special synod dedicated to the Amazon.
Based on the theme of fire in the scriptures, he contrasted the fire of love of the Gospel with the fires that destroy the Amazon rainforest and cultures.
He thus recognized in passing that in the past, evangelization took on the face of colonization.
May God preserve us from the greed of new colonialism! The fire ignited by the destroying interests, like the one that has recently devastated the Amazon, is not the fire of the Gospel. Fire is a heat that attracts and gathers in unity

Pope Francis has also called the synod fathers boldly for this synod which concerns the Amazon but far beyond the future of the world.
