Kenya's Hellen Obiri retained her 5,000-meter title at the World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar on Saturday, while the Nike Oregon Project won a new medal with the bronze medal of Germany's Konstanze Klosterhalfen.

In 14:26, 72, Obiri (29) broke the championship record to beat his compatriot Margeret Chelimo Kipkemboi (14: 27.49) and Germany's Konstanze Klosterhalfen (14: 28.43).

Obiri, Olympic vice-champion in 2016, made the difference 200 meters from the line under the cheers of many Kenyan fans by pushing the other two members of the podium with whom she had detached earlier in the race.

Konstanze Klosterhalfen (22) wins her first world medal and improves the record of the Nike Oregon Project a few minutes after Dutchman Sifan Hassan won 1,500m.

This group of top runners based in the northwestern United States, and funded by the Nike equipment manufacturer, is in the spotlight since the suspension by the American anti-doping of his teacher on Tuesday.

American Alberto Salazar has been suspended for four years for "organizing and instigating banned doping conduct", throwing suspicion on the group's seven athletes at the Doha Worlds, even though none of them has ever been tested positive.
