In the period from 2008 to 2018, the number of home telephones among urban residents of Russia decreased from 280.4 to 151.6 devices per thousand people. In rural areas, this figure decreased from 119.4 to 78.8 devices.

The largest number of home telephones (among urban areas) per thousand population remains with residents of Moscow (245.7), St. Petersburg (217.7), Sevastopol (215) and the cities of Tula (211) and Voronezh (209.4) regions.

Least of all telephones are residents of the cities of Dagestan (4.2), Chechnya (5.7), Ingushetia (8.1), Tuva (36.4) and Yakutia (63.9).

The largest number of home telephones per thousand people in rural areas is in the Komi Republic (164.9), Bashkiria (162.1), Altai Territory (148.1), Tomsk (147.8) and Tyumen Oblast (138.3).

The smallest number of home telephones remains in the villages of Dagestan (0.2), Ingushetia (1.7) and Chechnya (2.8), as well as Tuva (9) and the countryside of Moscow (13.9).

It was previously reported that in the first half of 2019, 4 million button phones were sold in Russia.
