Following the assault of a controller in a bus depot, Marseille's public transport network is completely paralyzed.

Public transport Marseille are totally stopped Saturday in Marseille after the assault of one of theirs in a bus depot in the morning. The agents of the régie des transports métropolitains (RTM) exercised their right of withdrawal. Buses, subways and trams: the network is totally interrupted.

"An agent of control was the victim of an aggression committed by a masked and armed man who introduced himself in the depot Saint-Pierre of the control of the metropolitan transport" announced the metropolis Aix-Marseille-Provence in a statement. "In response, the drivers of the RTM decided to exercise a solidarity movement", leading to the paralysis of the networks, she continued. "Discussions between the gtr management and staff representatives are underway for a resumption of service as soon as possible." The CGT asks for the presence of vigils in the morning in the depots.

Pointed with a handgun

The facts occurred at five o'clock in the morning, when a car broke into the depot. "A man took out a point gun, pointed at an agent and had him kneel before fleeing," according to CGT Secretary General Bernard Gargiolo. Injured by a butt kick, the controller was taken care of by the fire brigade and transported to the hospital.

The reasons for this aggression are not yet known and the man is being sought. An investigation was opened, the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP) seized the case.

Friday, another attack had led to paralysis of part of the metropolitan transport, this time on the line of coaches that connects Marseille to Aix-en-Provence.
