New York police are investigating the murder of four men this Saturday and the attack on another who is in critical condition, believed to be living on the street and attacked while they were sleeping, in the popular Chinatown, in Manhattan.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested, some local media report.

Police responded in the early hours of Saturday to a call about a dispute and when he arrived at the scene he found the first two men, with head injuries.

One of them, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene and the second, 49, was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition, according to ABC.

Half an hour later, two dead men were found in the same area and a few steps away from him, the fifth victim.

Police believe they were attacked with a metal object, and have not yet released their names or details about the man in custody, linked to the murders, while the investigation continues.
