Twenty people were killed in the province of Soum. The village of Madoudji, in the municipality of Arbinda has been targeted by suspected jihadists in the night from Friday to Saturday.

While the final assessment of this attack on the village of Madoudji is still unknown, a security source says that " at least 23 gold miners were massacred by jihadists ."

The attack took place on the night of Friday, 4 October. Several gunmen surprised artisanal gold miners in the Dolmané neighborhood and shot at them.

According to another source, it was a terrorist attack against the villagers to drive them out of the area. " These villagers are an obstacle against the attack of the municipality of Arbinda " said this interlocutor. These men working on this gold site were seen as a brake against an offensive on the city of Arbinda, according to the same security source.

These miners were not the only targets of the armed groups. They attacked another bridge on the road linking Arbinda to Djibo, specifically in the locality of Gaik Ngota.

The destruction of this road infrastructure occurred a few hours after the killings of Madoudji. " We heard a loud bang in the night, " said a resident of Arbinda. According to this resident, the situation is deteriorating day by day in the province of Soum.
