Mortality from tuberculosis decreased by 13.6%, from pneumonia - by almost 8%, from road accidents - by 9%, from external causes - by 4.7%.

Also, from January to August, there was a decrease in infant mortality - by 800 children under the age of 1 year, compared with the same period in 2018.

Previously, the WHO said that from 2003 to 2018, mortality decreased by 39% in men and 36% in women. The number of deaths associated with alcohol consumption has decreased most significantly.

Doctor of Biological Sciences Alexander Apt, professor of the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Biology, Moscow State University, head of the immunogenetics laboratory of the Central Research Institute of RAMS, in an interview with NSN, said that along with a decrease in mortality, there is a decrease in the incidence of tuberculosis in Russia, and noted that the reason was the improved supply of anti-TB drugs, as well as the emergence new drugs.
