“Kiev needs a dialogue with the republics of Donbass and with Russia in order to implement the Minsk agreements. Ukraine needs to coordinate all issues related to legislation on special status, legislation on elections, as amended by the Constitution with representatives of Donetsk and Lugansk. A normal and full-fledged dialogue will lead to a speedy restoration of peace, ”said Chesnakov.

Earlier, Yaremenko said that Ukraine’s position on legislatively securing the special status of Donbass will be coordinated with Russia.

According to him, attempts to bring “this issue to a referendum could theoretically be perceived by Russia as an attempt not to fulfill its obligations.”

As the parliamentarian noted, this could disrupt peace agreements.
