• Shooting in front of Trieste police headquarters, three agents struck

04 October 2019The two agents hit during a shootout in front of the Trieste Police Headquarters have died. They had suffered very serious injuries.

The shooting in the afternoon in front of the Trieste Police Headquarters. According to initial information, a man was allegedly firing, allegedly responsible for a robbery this morning, which would have fired two police officers, who were inside a Volante, outside the Police headquarters. The man seems to have been in the company of his brother, who was injured. Both would have been stopped.

Three wounded agents, two in very serious conditions, died; a third was smeared with one hand by a bullet. Neither the dynamics nor the motive that led the man to shoot at the two policemen are yet clear. The area around the police station has been isolated with a safety cord.

According to a first reconstruction of the story, the robber would have gone to the police station accompanied by his brother. For reasons not yet identified one or both of them, they would have taken one or two agents from the gun, shooting the policemen. Other officers present would have returned fire and injured his brother, who would have already been taken to the hospital with an ambulance. It is not clear where the robber manager would be. According to some witnesses he would be inside the police headquarters.

Governor Fedriga: I will meet the quaestor immediately

This was stated by the president of the Region Massimiliano Fedriga, leaving a conference at the Friuli shipyard of the Friulian university, where a book was presented, after learning by telephone about the shooting in Trieste. "I am close to the families and to the police, I think it is a dramatic event for the whole community and for the whole country" added the president of the Region.
