This was reported to RIA Novosti by a representative of the state corporation Rosatom.

“The physical launch of both nuclear reactors included in the reactor installation of the icebreaker took place,” he said.

The interlocutor added that after the necessary tests, the reactors will be brought to the energy level of power.

“And then the Arctic trials will start,” he added.

Earlier, the head of the Rosatom state corporation, Alexei Likhachev, during a gala event dedicated to the Day of the Nuclear Industry Worker, said that in December the company plans to begin sea trials of the Arctic’s leading universal icebreaker.

In August, the Nevsky Novosti newspaper, citing the press service of Rosmorrechflot, reported that by the end of 2019, about 100 crew members of the Arctic 22220-type nuclear-powered icebreakers would be trained.
