Carrie Lam spoke to confirm it. The Hong Kong authorities have just adopted emergency measures to quell the anti-Chinese protests that have been going on for months. With a flagship provision: the ban on the mask in the demonstrations.

It's official: the masks in the demonstrations will be banned. The head of the Hong Kong Executive Carrie Lam on Friday, October 4 invoked an emergency law that had not been used since 1967 to ban the wearing of the mask in order to end an unprecedented political crisis.

For DAB (The Democratic Alliance for Improvement and Progress in Hong Kong), this is very good news. The largest conservative party in Hong Kong, openly close to the Chinese authorities , had called for the ban for years to lift the anonymity of protesters .

His spokesman Elizabeth Quat recalls, at the microphone of our special envoy in Hong Kong, Vincent Souriau , their insistence that these masks be banned:

" The reports of medicine show that the wearing of the mask pushes individuals to radicalize. Since 2016, we ask that they be banned at rallies, as is the case in many countries in Europe, Canada and the United States. This is a measure that will facilitate information gathering and prosecution. "

" Restore order in Hong Kong "

Now, do we have to put in place a curfew, establish the state of emergency? Elizabeth Quat does not say it like that. But she promises to keep the pressure on the government:

" Citizens are worried, they write to us asking for action, a firm response from the executive. We will present a text as soon as possible to urge Carrie Lam to do more to restore order in Hong Kong . "
