Banksy oil painting with a maximum of 1.3 billion yen

An oil painting by the masked artist “Banksy”, known for his sharp social caricatures, is auctioned out as if he had foreseen the current turmoil in the UK over leaving the EU. It was sold for about 1.3 billion yen.

The winning bid was an oil painting produced in 2009 by Banksy, a masked artist known for his sharp social caricatures.

This oil painting on a canvas with a width of more than 4 meters is a place similar to the British Parliament, depicting many chimpanzees sitting and discussing violently instead of parliamentarians. It is perceived as a work that seems to foresee chaos.

This work was auctioned out in London, England on the 3rd, and was sold for about 9.9 million pounds, with over 1.3 billion yen in Japanese yen, and was the highest for Banksy's work.

In response to this, Banksy commented on the SNS Instagram, “My picture has recorded the highest amount tonight, but unfortunately I do not have a work”.
