According to the Bankruptcy Manager, there are now sharp conversations with two stakeholders about a quick takeover of all or large parts of the Group: the stamp where GP is included and Gota Media, which owns Borås Tidning.
- They have themselves gone out in the media and have expressed that they are interested.
But there must also be at least a few other stakeholders willing to take over.
- Some can look at the whole business and others can look at parts, says Marek Zdrojewski.
Economic problemsThe Michelsen family has operated Alingsås Tidning for five generations and 154 years, but just over a week ago the company was filed for bankruptcy.
As an advertising agency, news broker and discussion forum, the magazines in the group have meant a lot to the local conversation in municipalities such as Alingsås, Vårgårda and Herrljunga.
The newspaper has for some time had financial problems and was hit hard by being left alone outside group-wide solutions. But there is also internal criticism of the owner's way of conducting the business, not least from their own editorial staff.
"It's been a torment here," says Urban Kärvling, editor-in-chief at Alingsås Tidning
About 30 employees are affectedIn addition to Alingsås Tidning, AB William Michelsen's Book Printing Company also includes Härrydaposten / Partille Tidning and Lerums Tidning. About 30 employees are affected and 92,000 readers.
- Stakeholders see a value in the fact that it goes fast, if it goes too long, you risk losing interest among subscribers and with ad buyers, says bankruptcy manager Marek Zdrojewski.
SVT News West has sought Susanna Michelsen for a comment on the emerging situation.
