“In the evening of October 2, 2019, Sberbank became aware of a possible leak of credit card accounts, which affects at least 200 customers of the bank,” the press release said.
The main version of the incident is considered the commission of “deliberate criminal acts of one of the employees”.
The bank specified that penetration into the database from the outside is impossible due to its isolation from the external network.
The press service of Sberbank emphasized that this incident does not threaten the safety of customers' funds.
As the newspaper Kommersant clarifies with reference to a representative of Sberbank, theft of funds from customer cards is impossible, since attackers do not have access to CVV codes.
