KM7 at Gruvön Mill will be able to produce 550,000 tonnes per year. It is about different types of cardboard packaging for, for example, milk, fruit, electronics and chocolate. The cardboard machine is described by BillerudKorsnäs as the most modern in the world and the company has invested just over SEK 7 billion. It was a very proud CEO who came to Värmland for today's inauguration:

- It is a very important investment totaling 7.6 billion. This is the biggest investment that BillerudKorsnäs has ever made, but it is also an investment that is very much in the segments we believe in and that we believe will grow in the future and that are very focused on food and drink, "says Petra Einarsson, CEO and CEO.

Prince Daniel inaugurates

This summer, production started at the new machine and today it was time for inauguration with a full day program. After an introductory press meeting with, among others, President and CEO Petra Einarsson, a bus trip to Grums was arranged with a guided tour in KM7, which spans a 350 meter long area at Gruvöns Bruk.

During the afternoon, seminars will be held on the theme of sustainability and future packaging solutions and at 18:00 the inaugural ceremony will be held with Prince Daniel and Minister of Business Ibrahim Baylan (S).

Savings packages within the Group

BillerudKorsnäs expects KM7 to be fully operational only in 2023. Since its start in the summer, the machine has produced lower volumes than expected and in conjunction with BillerudKorsnäs presented a savings package in September this year, the investment at Gruvöns Bruk showed that 2019's results will be reduced by SEK 150 million more than expected.

In savings packages, 300 services will be removed within the Group. How does this work at Gruvön Mill?

- During these three years as this project has been going on, staffing has been part of the project so just in terms of Gruvön, we have a good control over what the mill will look like during and after this ramp-up, says Petra Einarsson.

So these 300 services won't hit Gruvön so hard if I interpret you correctly?

- No, they won't, says Petra Einarsson.
