JERUSALEM - Outgoing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering holding primaries in his Likud party, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

The newspaper quoted the party as saying, in a statement, that «the aim of this measure is to refute the trick of disobedience within the party, which is repeated by other parties and prevent them from entering into a unity government» with the Likud party.

Netanyahu met yesterday with Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman, but the meeting ended without any progress, dispelling the possibility of forming a coalition government after last month's elections.

Lieberman's party said after the meeting: «The right path to form a government is to create basic principles common between Israel Beitenu, Likud, and white blue».

It should be noted that this meeting was the first between Netanyahu and Lieberman since the elections on September 17 last year. Lieberman said on Monday that if Netanyahu's Likud and Gantz's White Blue party did not make progress on forming a unity government before next week, his party would draw up a special plan to form a government.

Blue White led the election with 33 seats, one ahead of Likud, but neither party was able to form a coalition with 61 seats and thus a majority government.

Netanyahu had the support of 55 deputies from right-wing and religious parties, while Benny Gantz garnered the support of 54 deputies from centrist and left-wing parties. Blue White refuses to form a unity government with Likud.

Lieberman's party won eight seats in the last elections, which makes his party the pomegranate balance in the formation of any government, but his party decided not to recommend in favor of the mandate of either Netanyahu or Gantz to form a government.

Last week, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin commissioned Netanyahu to form a government, and if Netanyahu could not form within the planned period, Rivlin would appoint another Knesset member. Netanyahu failed to form a coalition after the elections in April after Lieberman refused to join him.

The Israeli Knesset was sworn in yesterday in the absence of a new government that Netanyahu is still seeking to form to remain in power after legislative elections did not bring him new. Members of the Knesset, elected on September 17, were sworn in from the festive atmosphere due to the faltering accompanying the formation of the government.

Pessimism has reached the point of fears that the term of the new Knesset will be too short, after the transfer of information on the call, perhaps for new elections would be the third this year if it happened. On the other hand, the Israeli army launched a dawn raid yesterday and raids in various areas in the West Bank, including the arrest of a number of Palestinian youths, while a group of settlers carried out attacks on children in Hebron. The Israeli army said in a statement that its soldiers arrested 13 Palestinians who were transferred for investigation by the security services under the pretext of participating in acts of popular resistance against settlers, and claimed to seize weapons and weapons in the Nablus area.

Meanwhile, a group of settlers attacked three children in front of their house in Tel Rumeida near the settlement of Ramati Shay in Hebron. Eyewitnesses said a group of settlers severely beat three children between the ages of 11 and 13.
