During the first nine months of the year, Volvo's sales increased by 7.4 percent, compared with the corresponding period in 2018.

The increase is particularly pronounced in China. There, 13 per cent more Volvo cars were sold in September and almost 14 per cent more in the first nine months of the year.

More than 507 700 Volvo cars have been sold so far in 2019, according to a press release from the company. The most popular model is the suave XC60, sold in 145,600 copies.

Volvo Cars is owned by Chinese Geely Holding, and has set a new sales record five years in a row through 2018.
